Which parameter of the catalytic metal determines the SWNT diameter?

We produce SWNT by arc-discharge method. Optimizing the process parameters we have established that with Ni catalyst the average diameter and the distribution of nanotubes over diameter (measured by Raman scattering) are the same at any conditions. He pressure, amount of catalyst, size of the catalyst grains have no influence on SWNT diameter. Meanwhile for another catalyst (Pt/RH) the SWNT diameter is much smaller. HRTEM shows that SWNT grow as "the hairs on the head", where the "head" is a metallic particle. Its size plays no role. The question is: which parameter of catalytic metal does play role for SWNT geometry?
