I am Professor of Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics at Michigan State University.

My main scientific interest has been to understand the formation and the fundamental properties of nanostructured materials using advanced numerical techniques. Many consider me a pioneer of computational nanoscience and nanotechnology that dates back to the 1980's. My research has focussed on the development and application of numerical techniques to study structural, electronic, transport and optical properties of surfaces, low-dimensional systems and nanostructures. Computer simulations performed in my group have addressed self-assembly and physical properties of fullerenes, nanotubes, nanowires, polymers, quasi-2D layered systems, ferrofluids, metallic and magnetic clusters.
