How to Get There

  • By Taxi from Boston
  • If you arrive by plane, train or bus, the fastest way to reach Boston College is by taxi (make sure you tell the driver Boston College, not Boston University). Tell the driver to enter Boston College through the St. Ignatius Gate on Commonwealth Avenue (Number 2 on the map), just across the "Boston College" "T" station. From there, go to the Welcome and Housing Center at 90 St. Thomas More (Number 3 on the map, 100 m from the gate, on the right). The taxi ride from the airport to Boston College will cost between $40-$50 (including the usual 15% tip).

If you arrive after July 6th, go to the Main Gate (Commonwealth Ave.) and ask for directions to Higgins Hall Atrium where the registration desk will be located during conference hours. After hours, go to 90 St. Thomas More Drive.

  • By Public Transportation
  • There is an easy, reliable alternative way to get from Logan Airport to BC, via public transportation/subway ("T"). It is cheap, but takes longer (about one hour). Here are the instructions:

    • Take the airport shuttle to the Airport subway station (T-station). Pay $1 to the cashier to get a token, and take the Blue line to Government Center. (The Blue line is a real subway, and therefore fast; a few minutes from the airport to Government Center).
    • At Government Center, change to the Green B-line, direction Boston College. This is a tram (streetcar) that runs underground part of the way. It is slow (45-50 minutes to get from the Government Center to BC), but quite enjoyable.
    • The Boston College station (Number 1 on the map) is the last station on this line. Enter Boston College through the St. Ignatius Gate on Commonwealth Avenue (Number 2 on the map), just across the "Boston College" "T" station. From there, go to the Welcome and Housing Center at 90 St. Thomas More (Number 3 on the map, 100 m from the gate, on the right).
  • By Car
  • Driving directions to Boston College can be seen at http://www.bc.edu/about/maps/. Free parking for participants will be available throughout the conference in the Commonwealth Avenue Parking Garage.

Should you arrive after July 6, park your car at the Commonwealth Avenue Parking Garage first. If you arrive during conference hours, proceed directly to the registration desk in Higgins Hall (Number 5 on the map). Should you arrive after conference hours, go to the Welcome and Housing Center at 90 St. Thomas More (Number 3 on the map).

Accommodations

NT'02 participants will get the key for their accommodation at the Welcome and Housing Center of Boston College, located at 90 St. Thomas More (Number 3 on the map). The housing office will be open from noon until 1 a.m. (after midnight!) on July 5 and July 6.
