Zoom
is a Video Communications software similar to, but more versatile than
Skype. The virtual Tnano20 workshop will use the
Zoom software. Participants can use the free version of Zoom. The host
has access to the more powerful professional version that is supported
by Michigan State University.
Instructions for Participants
Download Zoom
software ("Zoom Client for Meetings") from
HERE.
Install it on your computer.
Make sure your camera and
microphone work properly.
Instructions for Presenters
Download Zoom
software ("Zoom Client for Meetings") from
HERE.
Install it on your computer.
Make sure your camera and
microphone work properly.
Download a test presentation to your computer in
ppt,
pptx, or
pdf
format. Test the presentation.
Locate the Video camera icon near the left bottom of the screen. Click on the
"^" symbol on its right. Click on "Choose Virtual Background".
You can select among the default backgrounds offered or use your own.
To do so, click on the "+" button on the right of "Virtual Backgrounds".
Select "Add Image". You can now select any image file you like,
including "Tnano20-wallpaper.png" that you just downloaded.
Click on the image and your background will change immediately.
When your presentation time approaches
Please join the Zoom session at least 10 minutes before your presentation.
Please double-check your microphone and camera.
At the time of your presentation, please open your PowerPoint/pdf file
(maybe mine for the test)
and keep the PowerPoint/pdf viewer window open.
Return to the Zoom window. At the bottom of your Zoom window, locate the green button
Share Screen. Press this button.
Click on your PowerPoint window. Then click the blue
Share button.
Now you broadcast your screen to all. You are entering your PowerPoint file.
Start your PowerPoint/pdf presentation (click on the "full screen" icon).
There is a green announcement
You are screen sharing.
At the end of your presentation, click on the red
Stop share button
right of the green
You are screen sharing
announcement. Your face appears.
Please test this process to avoid delays in the presentation..
